Program National Assembly of SKAL ITALIA

Palermo from 16 to 19 March 2023 on the 70th anniversary year since the foundation of SKAL International Palermo discovering the Arab-Norman Route.

Dear Skalleague,

with reference to the National Assembly of Skal Italia which will take place in Palermo in conjunction with the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of Skal Palermo, it is confirmed that the chosen venue is the Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa, our member, where the assembly will take place in the prestigious Sala Ducrot and the gala evening.

The dates of execution are from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 March 2023, equal to 4 days and three nights.

In this sense, we have provided for the possibility of applying through the Conca d’Oro Viaggi, our Socia, the See Sicily formula offered by the Tourism Department of the Sicilian Region, which provides two nights for a fee and the third free, while for the flight, you can enjoy a 50% discount with all European carriers.

The offer provided by “SEE SICILY” for flights consists of a reduction of up to 50% of the cost of the

return ticket, with a maximum of 100 euros per person, minus the FEE of 20 euros per ticket for the agency. (a ticket of 200 euros will get a 100 euros discount; a larger ticket will always have 100 discount, and a ticket of fewer than 200 euros will have a 50% discount) The offer is valid with all carriers operating on Palermo.

The participation fees for the stay-in room and breakfast for the three nights are:

ON REQUEST extensions are possible with respect to the date of return currently scheduled for Sunday 19 March afternoon from 17 onwards. This is the general program.

Program dedicated to the Arab-Norman itinerary (Palermo – Cefalù – Monreale)

Day 1 Thursday 16 March (from 9 am to 5 pm)

  • The arrival of participants at Falcone Borsellino Airport and autonomous transfer by bus or taxi. For later arrivals you can proceed with transfer service and accommodation in Hotel.  Participants who wish can be provided with a City Sightseeing ticket for an orientation tour of the city.
  • 7.00 pm the puppet theatre in the unusual and exclusive setting of the Conca d’oro Viaggi
  • 8.30 pm Welcome dinner

Day 2 Friday 17 March – Monreale and Cefalù

  • 8.30 am Transfer to Monreale by private bus and guided tour of the Cathedral.  Pcontinuation for Cefalù. Visit the Cathedral and the Norman town
  • 13.00 Lunch in Cefalù
  • 18.00 Return to the hotel
  • 9.00 pm Dinner in a restaurant

Day 3 Saturday 18 March – Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa and visit Palermo for companions.

  • 9.30 – Opening of the Shareholders’ Meeting (accessible to Members and external observers)
  • 10,00 – Open Forum on ITALY FOR ALL SEASONS between sustainability and accessibility
  • 12.00 – Award proclamation and press conference
  • 13,00 – Business lunch at the hotel
  • 15,00 – Voting and elections National President and Board of Directors
  • 20,00 – Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa – Gala dinner –

Program for accompanying persons.

Guided tour, on foot, along Corso Vittorio Emanuele and the monuments of the Arab-Norman Circuit:

  • 9.00 am Cathedral of Palermo, followed by cloistered monasteries reveal their history in the famous Piazza Bellini: visit at the Monastery of Santa Caterina closed for centuries to visitors where among the many curiosities the traditional pastry is recreated according to the ancient recipes of the nuns.  Visit the Church / Monastery of Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio called “La Martorana” with the splendid Byzantine mosaics.  Following Artisans of the Old Town through the alleys and the most famous monuments to discover ancient and new artisans who preserve ancient manual skills in the creation of artefacts that are returning to the fore. 
  • 13.00 Lunch in Piazza Borsa
  • 3.00 pm Palazzo Butera, in the ancient district of Kalsa: from Dimora del ‘600 to a forge of international relations proposes a new approach to the development of the city in terms of urban renewal, architecture, collecting and arts. 

 Day 4 Sunday 19 March – Palermo

  • 9.00 am Walk through Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Palazzo Abatellis which houses the famous Annunziata by Antonello da Messina and the Triumph of Death, Oratorio di San Lorenzo with the stuccoes of Giacomo Serpotta and the Palazzo Mirto historic residence.
  • Lunch to discover the Street food in Piazza Marina.
  • Self-transfer to the airport
